BEYOND HALLOWEEN 2009: HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN

BEYOND HALLOWEEN 2009: HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN

Halloween's origins date back more than 2,000 years. On what we consider November 1, Europe's Celtic peoples celebrated their New Year's Day, called Samhain (SAH-win).

The night before Samhain—what we know as Halloween—spirits were thought to walk the Earth as they traveled to the afterlife. Fairies, demons, and other creatures were also said to be abroad.

Celtic Costumes

In addition to sacrificing animals to the gods and gathering around bonfires, Celts often wore costumes—probably animal skins—to confuse spirits, perhaps to avoid being possessed, according to the American Folklife Center at the U.S. Library of Congress.

By wearing masks or blackening their faces, Celts are also thought to have impersonated dead ancestors.

Young men may have dressed as women and vice versa, marking a temporary breakdown of normal social divisions.

In an early form of trick-or-treating, Celts costumed as spirits are believed to have gone from house to house engaging in silly acts in exchange for food and drink—a practice inspired perhaps by an earlier custom of leaving food and drink outdoors as offerings to supernatural beings.

(Beyond Halloween 2009: more on the first Halloween costumes.)

Christian Influence on Halloween

Samhain was later transformed as Christian leaders co-opted pagan holidays. In the seventh century Pope Boniface IV decreed November 1 All Saints' Day, or All Hallows' Day.

The night before Samhain continued to be observed with bonfires, costumes, and parades, though under a new name: All Hallows' Eve—later "Halloween."

Halloween Arrives in America

European immigrants brought Halloween to the United States, and the celebration really gathered steam in the 1800s, when Irish-American immigration exploded.

Anoka, Minnesota, may be home to the United States' oldest official Halloween celebration. Beginning in 1920, the city began staging a parade and bonfire.

Anoka historians say townsfolk wanted to curb Halloween pranks that loosed cows on Main Street and upended outhouses.

Business of Halloween 2009

2009 may be especially scary for Halloween retailers. The average consumer will spend less on the holiday in 2009 than he or she did in 2008, research shows. U.S. residents are expected to spend an average of $56.31 on Halloween in 2009, down from $66.54 last year.

Total U.S. Halloween 2009 spending is predicted to sag to $4.75 billion, about a billion dollars less than in 2008.

Upward of 15 percent [of the people surveyed] said they would either make a costume or use last year's costume, said National Retail Federation spokesperson Kathy Grannis.

What Average Americans Will Spend on Halloween in 2009

• Halloween Costumes: $20.75
• Halloween Candy: $17.99
• Decorations: $14.54
• Greeting Cards: $3.02

(Source: 2009 National Retail Federation survey.)

Some of last year's most popular costumes have also fallen out of favor, perhaps because of weariness with Washington politics.

Among adults, nurse costumes fell from number five overall to completely out of the top ten. "We are speculating that Americans might be sick of hearing about the health care debate, so nurses kind of slipped down the list this year," Grannis said.

"The same goes for politicians, who didn't even make the list. Last year they were all over the streets."

Grannis said pop culture played a major role in skyrocketing sales for both adult and child vampire costumes. The Twilight series, Vampire Diaries, and True Blood appear to have inspired plenty of would-be bloodsuckers this year.

Hallmark Halloween

Americans give about 35 million Halloween greeting cards a year, with the most popular variety being grandparent-to-grandchild, Deidre Parks, a spokesperson for Missouri-based Hallmark Cards, told National Geographic News in 2008.

"The first Halloween cards that we can detect in the U.S. were produced in 1908," Parks said.

Halloween Sugar Rush

There are some 36 million potential trick-or-treaters (children aged 5 to 13) in the United States, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

In 2007 the average American consumed 24.5 pounds (11 kilograms) of candy, much of it during the Halloween season, according to census data.

Great Pumpkins

Far from the pumpkin's native Central America, chilly Illinois produces more than 90 percent of U.S. pumpkins.

Across the U.S., farms grew 1.1 billion pounds of the fruit in 2007, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Total value: about $117 million.

The current world record for biggest pumpkin was set in 2007 by a 1,689-pound (766-kilogram) monster grown in Rhode Island.

Earlier in 2009, though, Canton, Ohio, schoolteacher Christy Harp grew a behemoth pumpkin that, at 1,725 pounds (782 kilograms) is likely to shatter the existing official world record.

About 90 percent of a pumpkin's weight is from water. While growing, a champion pumpkin can add 40 pounds a day and reach roughly the size of a Volkswagen Beetle. (See "Giant Pumpkins 'Go Heavy' This Halloween.")

early bird catches the worm

Get to bed early night so that you can get up at the creak of dawn. Give a fresh start to a new day!

Make it a habit to start your day early with some activity. It could be reading. Gardening, exercising or just taking your dog for a walk. Whichever work you choose to do. You will find yourself more energetic. Alert and organized for the rest of the day.

``The early bird catches the worm.’’

How true this is! An early riser always has a head start over those who are still asleep.

Think of all the wonderful things you do, if you snatched a few hours every from the very early for yourself.

You could brush up on your school work or spend this time to gather more information from other books. If you are in the habit of keeping a personal diary then time could be used to put your thoughts down. You could even write a letter to a friend or relative, or may be you could read a story book for which you never find the time otherwise.

These early hours of the morning are the most precious, because this is when time is your own. It is a time of day when there are no disturbances or distractions. The silence helps you to concentrate.

Devotees use this time for prayer and meditation. Industrious people use it for some work or the other. Diligent students use it to study and there are still other who take exercise in order to remain active for the rest of the day.

Most great leaders like Napoleon and Hitler understood the value of working at dawn. They utilized this time to organize themselves for the rest of the day. It might be a good idea if you did the same.

If you are in the habit of waking up just in time to rush off school, why do not you try to start your day a couple of hours earlier from tomorrow?

Give yourself this time to check out your time-table to see whether all your books are packed correctly. May be, you would like to go over a lesson or two, so that you are thoroughly prepared for your day at school.

You will be amazed at the amount of activity there is at the creak of dawn. The butter fly flits from flower to flower. The birds leave their nest in search of food- the man boatman sets out to sea for his catch while the farmer goes to plough in the field.

Better than a Doctorate Degree from Harvard

If you see anyone drinking tea, and you ask him what he is drinking, he will tell you "tea." There is sugar in the tea, but he will not mention the sugar, no one ever says he is drinking tea-and-sugar. No doubt the sweetness of the sugar fills the tea, but the person drinks and says nothing about it.

The long standing tradition of Qur'anic memorization is analogous to the sugar, doing its work in secret. In a child who embarks on the journey of memorizing Qur'an we see that the hands, nose, ears, eyes, and tongue are dynamic, but no one can see what the soul is accomplishing. Their ears come across as listening, and their tongues seems to be talking. But no matter what it may seem to be, it is not only the tongue that talks. And in spite of form, it is not only the ears that hear. That which speaks and hears is the invisible soul within. The effect of the long standing tradition of Qur'anic memorization on a child is similarly invisible.

And this is what happens to a child when he memorizes the words of Allah, the Exalted. We might think they are just memorizing words. But in actuality, every letter they say, every sound they make, makes an imprint in their hearts and minds which enables them to take the imitated step of converting his oral recognition of Qur'anic language into a physical act.

The best education we can give our children is the memorization of the Holy Qur'an. As Rasulullah (saw) said: "No group of people gathers in one of the houses of Allah to recite the Book of Allah and study it together, but tranquility descends upon them, the angels surround them, mercy comes down upon them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him." (Muslim).

The first group of students I ever taught was a group of 9 year-olds in a Hafidh Program in 1998. I was merely their English teacher. As each day passed by, I saw little beings change from being passive to being connected. I witnessed what seemed at the time insignificant moments of sharing between classmates evolve into brotherhood. I saw the honor of one being defended by all, and I saw the grief of a few being shared by many. They finished the school year with highest class percentage of 98% in all subjects, and to this day continue to excel academically. This is rare to find in America today. There was nothing magical in it. They were revolutionized because they entrusted their time with Allah, by the memorization of the Holy Qur'an, the words of Allah, the Exalted.

The vessels for preservation of Islam are in our children's hearts. Allah says:

"Nay, but they, the clear ayat, are preserved in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge…" [Qur'an 29:49]

It is our duty to plant these seeds in our children for we must equip them for what lay ahead of them. There is no better time to preserve our heritage than today, in these critical times.

As there are numerous full-time schools sprouting in the west, it is time that we as parents invest our children's time memorizing the Qur'an and join the ranks of thousands who seek to earn the pleasure of Allah (azza wajal) and preserve the very foundation of our Islamic identity. Yes! It's better than a doctorate degree from Harvard as we are reminded by the words of the Prophet (saw) about its reward:

Buraydah (r) said: "I was sitting with the Prophet (saw) and I heard him say: ..The Qur'an will meet its companion on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened for him, looking like a pale man, and it will say to him, 'Do you know who I am?' He will say, I do not know you.' It will say to him, 'Do you know who I am?' He will say, I do not know you.' It will say, 'I am your companion the Qur'an, who made you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant will benefit from his trade, and today you will benefit too.' He will be given power in his right hand and immortality in his left, and on his head will be placed a crown of dignity. His parents will be given two garments the like of which could never be made by the people of this world and they will say, 'How did we earn these?' It will be said, 'Because your child learned the Qur'an.' Then it will be said to him, 'Read and go up through the levels and rooms of Paradise. He will keep on ascending as long as he reads or recites.'" (Ahmad).

Jika engkau dizalimi, maka janganlah engkau menzalimi. Jika mereka mengkhianatimu, janganlah engkau berkhianat. Jika engkau didustai, janganlah engkau marah. Jika engkau dipuji, janganlah engkau bergembira.

Scientific studies prove three Universiti Malaya lecturer prayers required of Muslims every day to not only spirituality but practice has proved the wisdom implied physical and mental health, especially increasing the level of human health. Prayer as a pillar of Islam which every Muslim has to be studied from many angles spiritual. However, have we thought about the meaning of each movement as prayer qiyam, bow down, prostrate, prostration and sitting between two Tahiyat Tahiyat early and late.

Whether movement is simply a movement of the body has no meaning? Modern scientific research reveals that the practice is done five times each day is not only a spiritual practice that connects slave to its creator. Greatness prayers fact benefit the human body. Results of scientific studies to prove the duty of every Muslim has implied wisdom of human physical and mental.

More encouraging results obtained evidence that local studies, including a non-Muslim. They are lecturers at the Faculty of Engineering Department of biomedical Engineering University of Malaya (UM) led by Associate Professor Dr Fatimah Ibrahim with Professor Wan Abu Bakar Wan Abas and Ng Siew Cheok.

Driving this study is the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and grants through the Department of Prime Minister (PMD), the study aims to determine the therapeutic value of prayer against those who perform prayers, including in terms of cardiovascular system, body composition, signal the brain and muscle activity. Wan Abu Bakar Dr. clarify when the study said, they are biomedical engineers who have studied the human body in terms of engineering.

Reported, the study tried to see what happens to the actual physical and mental when people make prayers. "Research is divided into several sections, I examine the muscle activity, Siew Chok studying brain signals, which is what happens to the brain waves during prayers. Dr. Fatimah study body composition, "he said.

He said the study results found that there are many positive things to do when a prayer and included in this book `Prayer: Benefits From Science Perspective 'Department of biomedical issues. This book has two versions, English and Malay language.

So far, the study is the first scientifically done in this country. However, there have been several studies of the same, but not comprehensive and complete as do UM. A medical doctor from Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Moh Sholeh, doing research for special prayers tahajud.

He took blood samples, stress hormones (stress) and immunity in the body. After three months of doing prayers, samples taken again and found to increase immunity and decrease stress hormones. Formula prayers tahajud can treat cancer.

Another study conducted by three medical doctors from Hokkaido University in Japan, namely Mohammed Faruque Reza, Yuji Urakami and Yukio Mano, who found that body position (posture) prayers can treat the sick elderly bones.

Dr. Wan Abu Bakar, said the study should end this year, but the department has several new proposals to expand the study. Clarify further the study, Dr. Fatimah, who led the study said the new areas that will be studied is the difference between the common prayers and scholars.

"The study will examine brain signals scholars and common people during prayer. Are those brain signals are more pious than the usual quiet because we expect them to understand the language of the Qur'an, "he said. However, scholars have reported difficult to voluntarily participate in this test. He gave an assurance that their identity be kept confidential and only participate in the test sample is expressed from a particular group.

Compared to earlier studies that confirm prayer provides many benefits to human health, said further studies clarify the process of prayer to treat various diseases. Taking Erektil Dysfunction (ED) or impotence, for example, reported initial studies confirm that prayers have a positive effect for treating ED, but they want to study how to treat diseases such prayer movement.

manusia seperti kutu?

sourcce

http://drinspirasi.com/blog/index.php/bakat/kutu-kegagalan/

Ambil seekor kutu ataupun beberapa ekor kutu.

Manusia mula membuat kesimpulan seperti kutu. Memprogramkan mindanya bahawa potensinya setakat itu sahaja.. Aduhai..

PS : Soalan cepumas hari ini, jadi perlukah kita memprogramkan minda kita seperti kutu padahal hakikatnya kita jauh lebih hebat?

change they way you think, can you do it?

source

http://www.affirmationsforpositivethinking.com/

To have a positive thinking mindset you need to have positive thoughts, and they should be in your mind constantly.

The best way to get started is to change they way you think. So start paying close attention to what you think. Everyday catch yourself thinking, ask yourself – what am I thinking about?

Is this thought positive or negative?
Does it help me improve my life or does it make my life more difficult?

If the thought is not helpful, if it doesn’t allow you to succeed, if it doesn’t make your life more pleasant, if you find that the thought is going to attract what you don’t want then change it.

The Power of Positive Thinking and how to get Affirmations To Work For You
by Karim Hajee

Positive thinking is a practice and it requires that you have a certain mental attitude. When you have a positive thinking mindset you automatically have positive thoughts and you continually recite positive affirmations. This process happens automatically.

When you have a positive thinking mindset you almost instantly find answers to even the most complex problems and challenges. Positive thinking is a mindset or attitude that is geared towards automatically expecting things to work out. A person with a Positive Thinking pattern in place expects, believes and trusts that things will always work out and they often do.

This is not to be confused with someone who simply says: “Think positive and everything will workout.” Such a person is does not have the proper positive thinking mindset in place. They are simply turning to positive thinking when things go wrong – and by then it’s too late, the damage has been done.

Someone who has a positive thinking mindset naturally thinks positive and always foresees happiness, good health, success, and a positive outcome to just about every situation and event that takes place. They also trust and know that they will make the right decision and the right choices. Since they expect it – their mind and subconscious mind find a way to make it happen. This is the power of having a positive thinking mindset.

Now I know that not everybody thinks that positive thinking works, and often these are the people who use the concept of positive thinking sporadically or when they need to get out of a jam. That’s not the way positive thinking worse as I just outlined, so if you try this approach don’t expect results.

There are also those who believe in positive thinking but don’t know how to properly apply it. These are the people who will say “Think Positive” when you’re down or when things aren’t going well. But the person hearing this phrase has no idea what they mean and so tries to apply it and doesn’t get the result they want.

exam to pass or for your life endeavours

Baik, cuba lihat sekeliling kita.

By examination, sure that many restless, depressed gelana, fear of failure and various mixed feelings boil over. Perhaps there are many among us who are less (or not) aware of the fact the actual exams and tests to learn as our goal.

I will cite the words of Imam Syafi'e follows:

Whoever seek knowledge with feelings of pride and feel do not need him he will never find anyone to work and knowledge in a thousand difficulties, but he was hard then he will be successful

Try ask ourselves, on the basis of what we can not be a worry? Is getting a sufficient satisfaction for us to feel proud?

Well, we tried to look around. In our own society. How many intelligent people who fight Islam clever? How many wise men among the people oppressed subordinate (which they consider not wise)?

Knowledge that we get, but if it all just memorization alone will not necessarily guarantee us to get Nur Hidayah from Allah SWT. Fold double effort to understand rather than memorize. What we know very well we would not understand, but what we understand we insyaAllah easily memorize.

Safe through the test week with the right intentions!

My Dream
A personal story in the experience: I Want to Write a Book

( this is just like my dream ...... :)

I don't even know how many times in the past year I have opened up a word document or a journal and tried to get ideas for some sort of book. Sometimes the motivation strikes me, other times not so much. A few minutes ago I caught myself doing this, so I figured I should come on here instead.
I know I'm capable of writing an excellent book, but in order to do this takes planning and brainstorming... all of which I'm not very good on following through on.

I want to get a piece of my mind into other people's minds. To me, that would be a great accomplishment.

You know the things that you think when you're not really meaning to think at all? Just the bizarre stuff that goes through your head on a daily basis? I want to make a book along those lines. Not really sure of the plot (again, brainstorming..) but I almost want it to be somewhat of a Kurt Vonnegut style... but not exactly. I just want my book to be different.. a part of me. Something interesting and new that will captivate readers and stun publishers... nothing bland and common.. I don't think I could ever write about my life.

Anyway.. this WILL happen.. someday. I am scared that it will be a huge project getting published. I hope that doesn't cause me to back out.

My Dream As a Ten-Year-Old 3 weeks ago
Really. I know that so many people want to do this, but honestly, since I was young enough to understand the concept, I’ve wanted to write a book. A novel. I don’t know if acting influenced it at all, but I’m in love with quirky characters and I’ve always had such a deep wanting to tell a story.

interesting on how to get straight A's

this is for my son and daughter gcse coming soon next month...:

It took me
6 months
It made me
feel in control.

"I got straight A's for one semester."
How I did it: In my folder I kept a page for every class, and wrote down the grade I received on every assignment, and kept a running update of my grades in every class in the front of my notebook. Whenever any one looked like it was gonna slip, I put extra time into reading, note-taking, studying, memorizing for that class. I even read extra stuff not assigned by the teacher in order to be able to answer extra stuff on the essay questions.

Lessons & tips: Keep track of everything. Ask your teacher how much each assignment is worth. Do EVERY assignment, make sure the ones of little value are done well, and the ones of larger value are done really well. It takes time and attention to detail.

=====

It took me 20 years It made me apathetic ...

"It was hard and sometimes boring, but I have knowledge and skills I wouldn't have had if I didn't do it."
How I did it: Always attend class unless you're sick or have an emergency. Get there early enough to pick out a seat where you'll be able to see and hear everything, and be in the instructor's line of sight. Get out paper and two pens or pencils, as well as any assignments or books you'll need so you don't miss anything while looking for them. Put away anything that might distract you.

During a lecture, take notes. Write down important words and phrases and copy diagrams. Leave wide margins to put down your own ideas and questions. If there is nothing to take notes on, doodle. It keeps you slightly more focused than daydreaming, just in case important information comes up.

Keep your calendar and to do list with you at all times. Note down assignments, test dates, etc. as soon as you get them. Keep your paperwork organized and easily accessible. The syllabus, instructions for assignments, and so forth should all be in one place.

During group work, be the one who's organized. The note taker usually gets to deliver the group's findings to the class. That will get you noticed by the instructor, and unless you're a complete goof-off, being noticed by the instructor is a very good thing.

Do all your assigned reading (if possible.) If it's not possible, and that's a distinct possibility especially in grad school, prioritize. Skip the highlighter and instead write notes in the margins. (If it's not your book, use post-its.) The notes should include your own ideas and questions. At the end of each chapter, write a quick outline summary of that chapter. Go back to the questions you wrote down and try to answer them using what you've read. Use reference books and the internet to try to answer your questions as well. Bring difficult questions to your instructor.

When you get an assignment, plan your strategy that night or the next morning. Figure out what you'll need to do step by step, how much time each step will take, and put it all on a timeline. Leave enough time to get help from the instructor, tutors, friends, or the Writing Center if you run into trouble.

To prepare for tests, test yourself. Ask your instructor what kinds of questions (multiple choice, short answer, essay) will be on the test, and guess at what questions might be asked. For subjects like math and chemistry, work out practice problems you can get. Check your answers and then focus on your problem areas. For subjects like history and literature, write an outline of all the material from memory. Then go back to your notes and texts and scan them to see what you left out. That's the stuff you need to work on.

Keep your desk really organized, clean, and neat. If you don't like a desk, you don't need one, but you do need a comfortable place to sit, a place to put your computer and spread out a little, and a place to store your stuff. An easy chair next to a file cabinet is great if that's what works for you. Create a separate login on your computer that doesn't have access to games and use something like LeechBlock (a Firefox plugin) to keep yourself from surfing or going on social networking sites while you're working. Don't watch TV while working. Most people have some music that helps them focus and other music distracts them - have a separate "concentration" playlist if you need to. Noise cancelling headphones are a very good idea in a shared dorm room or a busy house.

Work for 40-90 minutes, then take a 10-20 minute break. Switch tasks. Don't let yourself burn out.

Get enough sleep. Mental work tires you out, and young people need a lot more sleep than 30 year olds. Try to sleep a regular schedule, but if you're thrown off, force yourself to get up at the same time and make up for it by taking a 20-120 minute nap and then going to bed early. That alone will make a world of difference for your ability to concentrate. Eat right, take a vitamin, drink lots of water, and exercise no matter how busy you get. Don't binge drink, smoke pot habitually, or use heavy drugs.

Lessons & tips: Do not try to get good grades for personal fulfillment. Grades are just an indicator, and academics aren't always directly related to what's important in life. Do it for the good it will give you - acquiring knowledge and skills, getting the credentials you need to make a good living, developing self-discipline, or whatever.

Resources: A quiet, comfortable place to study and lots of time to do it in.

berdoa , berusaha , ber tawakal

Apabila berdoa SEDARLAH Allah SWT sebenarnya terus sahaja memproses doa kita agar dimakbulkan. Doa kita bukan tidak dimakbulkan tetapi sedang diproses agar diri kita benar-benar bersedia menerima apa yang didoakan itu setelah Allah SWT memakbulkan permohonan kita nanti. Dengan menyedari doa kita sedang diproses, ia mampu meyakinkan kita dengan doa kita.

have i set my priority? training to achieve goal

By: MiePekan

Just to share with you on the importance of training and setting priority. I learned this from the world's Squash Queen : Nicol David. I was on the plane the other day and got a free copy of the inflight magazine. One article excited me and it was about "15 minutes with". This time it was with Nicol David.

Nicol David was asked, ".....how do you maintain your form?"
Her replies " Squash is my priority, I do it full time. Training and keeping fit are my main focus. I train up to six days a week, including playing squash twice a day, and fitness or gym sessions to make sure i'm prepared for tournaments. I still feel that i have more to do to reach my full potential".

Based on her answers, a lot we can learn from this world No1 squash icon!

In the stacks of new books that I have, inflame and moved to read the script Hadith Qudsi I bought a year ago. After a topic, I moved to another topic. Within days, tens of Hadith I have read and observed. One of them mentioned that in every 1000 people / descendants of Adam only only one that will go directly to heaven [Hadith Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Hadith Number 1470]. Dasyat - only 0.1%!

I am restless. Sukarnya. However menggerak heart to see it from a different perspective. I find the latest world population statistics here. Yesterday, the world's population at 6.8 billion. If calculated based congak easy, only 6.8 million who will step into heaven with the mind. Alahai not sampaipun 1 / 4 people.

I'm still not satisfied. I'm looking for statistics on the Muslim world. Statistics last three years. It looks like the following, only 21 percent! Let us sedapkan own heart: 79 percent of other legal and 6.8 million in the Fire should continue to enter heaven belongs to Muslims who number around 1.4 billion. Alahai is still small - only 0.5% of total Muslims are!

I bermuhasabah reflective and self. Ask, can I be among the few that?. Then yesterday morning I gave them tazkirah the dawn prayer in congregation in the mosque.

"Civil / i, be grateful because we can perform the dawn prayer in congregation in the mosque. Let us keep the favor of God for this. We are among the few. Civil / i represents less than 0.5% of statistics that God promised to continue to enter heaven. We call, we preached and we invite our friends to be with, if they do not want - even if their understanding and knowledge - not why. They want to joint in the other 99.5% Muslim. The promise of Allah is true.

Yesterday, bilal stretch microphone to my prayers led Noon. I look left-right-back, finding them better than me. "O Allah, permit me to be the imam prayer NOON today. KeampunanMu O Allah I seek ". After prayers, I turned to the congregation and said: "Take five-six minutes for me to say what I have to state the congregation at dawn just ... .."

I want my students-student aware of these statistics, analyze Hadith Qudsi from a different angle. Challenging them to use reason and knowledge to make the right choice.

God O God, Let the us in those little, with mercy and love sayangMu!

======

92% of research at Lancaster is of international quality

92% of research at Lancaster is of international quality

1st in UK for Physics

In the UK’s top 3 for Bio-medicine part of the newly established School of Health and Medicine (in the Allied Health Professions and Studies UoA)

In the UK’s top 3 for Art and Design (which at Lancaster includes Music, Theatre, Film and New Media in the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts)

90% of Lancaster’s academic staff are ‘research active’

Lancaster University’s mission to excel in research at the highest international level has been given a boost with the results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise revealing that 92% of its research is recognised as world leading or internationally significant and some key areas of research are ranked top in the UK.

Taking into account the high proportion of staff submitted to the RAE, Lancaster University emerges in the top ten in the country overall for research quality.

The RAE measures the quality of research conducted in universities and other higher education institutions in the UK against international standards of excellence.

Overall Lancaster submitted 90% of staff as ‘research active’ - considerably above the national norm.

Star subjects at Lancaster in include :

*
Physics ranked 1st in the country
*
LICA’s score – Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts places Art and Design, which at Lancaster includes Music, Theatre, Film and New Media, in the UK’s top 3. 80% of its research classed as world (4*) or internationally (3*) leading.
*
Bio-medicine , part of Lancaster’s newly established School of Health and Medicine, is ranked in the top 3 in the UK (in the Allied Health Professions and Studies UoA) . LICA and Bio-medicine are ranked joint first in the UK when using a methodology which produces a consolidated score for any institution that made more than one submission within these units of assessment.
*
Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) ranked joint 5th in the country
*
Sociology is ranked 5th in the country
*
Computing has 100% of research considered to be of international quality.

Over the past 6 years Lancaster’s research income has grown by 68%.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Trevor McMillan said that the results were a tribute to Lancaster’s talented academics and research teams, with all staff submitted to the RAE contributing to the now-recognised international research culture at Lancaster.

“Lancaster can go forward with strong confidence that its reputation for research excellence , which is remarkable given the university’s relatively small size , has been sustained. This external recognition for research excellence is made more significant when considering Lancaster’s strong teaching record, its popularity amongst students, and the major impact that the university is making in its knowledge transfer activities which benefit the regional economy.”

Lancaster is one of only 29 UK universities ranked in the top 200 universities worldwide, coming in at number 162 in the annual THE-QS world university rankings and is currently ranked top University in the North West in the all the national league tables . Lancaster University is the top ranked university in the North and in the top ten of comparable universities according to the 2009 National Student Survey.

The 2008 RAE outcomes are expressed differently than in the 2001 RAE. There is no longer a 1-5* rating scale. This has been replaced by a quality profile which identifies the proportion of activity reaching each of four defined 'starred' quality levels.

The RAE outcomes are used by the Funding Councils to distribute their block grant for research from 2009-10. The funding model using the 2008 RAE results will be announced in spring 2009.

Timbalan Menteri Pengajian Tinggi, Datuk Ir.

Living at the present.... forget past, future only current

---

hmmm and it make me think... ??!!??

---

ni artikel penuh living at present....

‘Living at the present’

***

***
Apakah yang dimaksudkan dengan ‘living at the present’?

Ketika melakukan sesuatu kerja, kita hanya fikirkan kerja kita sahaja.

***
Bagaimana mampu berada di ‘living at the present’?

MUNGKIN SAUDARA KATA SAYA GILA DAN SAUDARA AKAN MENJADI GILA MELAKUKAN SEDEMIKIAN BUKAN? Bercakap sorang-sorang. Saudara tidak perlu bercakap. Cukup sekadar di dalam hati.

Saya ingin bertanya, BUKANKAH SAUDARA AKAN MELAKUKAN ‘MIND CHAT’ JUGA KALAU TIDAK MELAKUKAN KOMUNIKASI DENGAN ALLAH?

Apakah hidup berTuhan sebenar?

Yesterday I came by a few students from other classes. They want to learn techniques to study the exam season which I often describe this technique in the beginning of the semester students in my class. A simple technique but InshaAllah can give focus to the students when learning. No matter whether studying or doing research while also making daily work including housewives can also use it.

The major problem when the workload is thought to receive a distorted curve with quite a large task. When we do a job, we will also work the other thought. When studying, remember there is other work not completed. When studying a particular subject, my mind is still concern themselves with the other subjects that have not made Revision. When a PhD student doing research, thinking mind and other matters pending.

Kecelaruan we can not make this the focus of the work that we do. Eventually it can cause pressure on ourselves.

***
There are no secrets to solve this problem. Every day should we need to plan what we will do on that day. No need detailed but at least there is planning. Planning, it is meant to give time for each job we do and that is important must be in a state of "living at the present time''work.

As a homemaker, such as planning to update the house which also must be planned first. What to do first and should have a target time required. With the 'allocation' each time to what we do, so very easy for us to be in the situation 'living at the present'.

As a student, when there 'allocation' time to study certain topics will make them easy to achieve 'living at the present'. Similarly, as an employee.

***
What is the 'allocation' time and manafaatnya?
'Allocation' or languages easily when such work should be done and berapakan period of time granted to a task according to the capacity themselves. We do not need to give 'allocation' the burden of our time.

Our own ability to know themselves and to the provisions of the 'allocation' is. 'Allocation' time is also influenced by other matters such as the example for those who work, the date must be completed and final report is a matter that affects others 'allocation' time. For students, the exam date will affect the 'allocation' this time.

We do this by listing all the work to be done and do check list how to give such work has been completed per cent. This process I call Identification.

A student must make identifikisi for each topic for each subject and how do they know and really understand the topic. Truly understand the meaning has the ability to better explain the topic and is able to solve problems related to these topics, including the calculation and so on.

It should also be viewed in terms of priority subject. It must be compiled according to the exam date in which the start date as a subject that has placed a high priority (highest priority). This is to ensure that we know time is appropriate to make provision for the Revision of the topic.

Manafaatnya is we do not have to think of our work that we do something when other work because every job we were given 'allocation' time.

When studying a topic for a subject, we need not consider the topic A or B subjects the subject because we know each other for all topics that we need to study subjects had 'allocation' own time that we planned. No need to worry not learn or do not understand. Do not understand is because yet reached the 'allocation' time. When the time arrived, we learn to understand the topic. So why to worry?

Similarly, when housewives make working at home. No need to worry where the work has not been updated because we have given each of 'allocation' time. Until only time we will be sure to update the section we have set.

Similarly those who work. No need to think about work while doing other things work because we have 'allocation' for each time we work. This way we not only get the job done in a given period of time, we can concentrate fully on the work we do. Sure result better quality.

***
What is a 'living at the present'?

I have explained a little here.

It means that we focus on what we do. We are also aware of what we do. Mind and soul we all attend the same when doing the work.

When doing a job, we only consider our work only. When we're cooking at home as an example, we focus only to cooking.

When we prepare a report in the office, we think what we do alone. Similarly, the students who are studying.

Similarly, the TIMES. OF TIMES IN THE 'LIVING AT THE PRESENT' make us humble THE TIMES. The problem is not humble the only one we often forget ourselves that we are this prayer. Are prayers, thoughts fly to where either. We are not in a state of 'Living at the present'.

I will explain in detail about the humble in their prayers in a future article. It is actually easy to do. RAHSIA ACTUAL NO.

Relatives will be able to enjoy the full sense of quiet prayer and as if all the problems that burdened either thrown away to where. Prayer that can make us more humble that felt really servitude. Prayer that we could make tears realized without the errors that we all do. Finally the prayers really affect us.

Are in a state of 'living at the present' will not make us remember other work. We are not concerned with other work. Again not to worry because not every job Existing 'allocation' IS THE TIME?

***
How capable are 'living at the present'?

The easiest way is all what we do we communicate with God.

For example while updating the house:
"O Allah, I am dirty his house ni ya Allah. I I I mop and broom lah ya Allah. Usable floor cleaner that I purchased yesterday ni ya Allah. "

While working:
"O Allah, be reporting data from Ahmad ni ni. I find I Ahmad kejaplah O God. Where Ahmad ni ya Allah. Just have here. Takpelah O God. Later he was back I find him. You remind me I find him ye ya Allah. I strongly ni forget. I am not ready to work later so Allah. Would ye ya Allah ".

When the study:
"O Allah, like how to resolve this question ni ni ye ya Allah. Thank you O God kasi I understand why I like the finish. Exciting O God because I know I dah settle the question if there macam ni. The kinds which are ya ni God. I first read lah nak O God. Nanti Kau kasi I understand ye ya Allah ".

MAY I SAUDARA KATA AND GILA GILA SAUDARA WOULD DO SUCH AS NOT? Speaking sorang-sorang. Relatives need not speak. Quite simply in the liver.

I want to ask, Did SAUDARA WILL OF 'MIND CHAT' IS Otherwise OF COMMUNICATION with God?

We should not deceive ourselves by saying do not mind chat while working. We always thought when aware. Made the study we will consider how mind chat with more than 80% of the total communications every day. 'Mind Online' whether communication with themselves. 20% is communication with other people, whether friends, family and others.

From chat is it not mind doing better communicate with God? Besides, we also remember our focus on God. We are aware and seek help of Allah in every case the work that we do. We ask the permission of Allah and redha during work and in the bush we always remember Allah throughout our lives.

Planning to put the 'allocation' every time we work and communication with God is always able to make us focus on what we do. It will give you results that actually the quality of life while we educate people to be positive in real life Bertuhan.

What Bertuhan real life? It is our witness that no God but Allah the One God.

sedar tak saya masa berdoa?

ustazah pesan berdoa dan meminta pada Allah.

berdoa. takut dan harap pada Allah.

---

adakah saya dah ada kesedaran ini? rasa sedar tak? tepuk dada saya sendiri tanya...

source ; :
mengapa berdoa?

1. Berlatih Berada Dalam Keadaan ‘Living at the present’
2. Menatap Wajah Kejujuran
3. Pulang Dengan Kejiwaan
4. Sentiasa Sedar Di dalam Membuat Pilihan
5. Sentiasa Berterima Kasih Pada Allah
6. Menundukkan Ego
7. Kembali Kepada Allah SWT
8. Berserah Kepada Allah SWT 100%

tapi ilmu tetap ilmu...

from source

http://dinyati65.blogspot.com/

kentut jangan x kentut...he2...

3. Kenapa kentut berbau busuk?
Bau kentut kerana kandungan hidrogen sulfida & merkaptan.

4. Kenapa kentut menimbulkan bunyi?
Kerana adanya vibrasi lubang `anus` saat kentut diproduksi. Kerasnya bunyi bergantung pada kecepatan gas.

19. Betulkah pening kepala kalau mencium bau kentut 2-3 kali berturut-turut?
Kentut mengandung sedikit oksigen, mungkin sedikit saja anda mengalami pening kepala kalau mencium bau kentut terlalu banyak.

20. Apakah warna kentut?
Tidak berwarna. Kalau warnanya `orange` seperti gas nitrogen oksida, aka tahulah siapa yang kentut..hehehe

21. Apakah kentut itu asid atau neutral?
Asid, kerana mengandung karbondioksisa (CO2) & hidrogen sulfida (H2S).

Wallahu`alam

He..he..he.. jangan marah. Saja buat joke hari raya. Fikir-fikirkan... SELAMAT BEROPEN HOUSE pada semua.
