DON'T QUIT

http://learnteachlove.blogspot.com/

DON'T QUIT
"When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but do not quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit."

i love her mission...

Then one day, I picked up a book that totally changed the course of my life.

M Scott Peck's The Road Less Travelled.

I realised blaming everyone and everything will not change the situations nor will it solve any issue that I face in life. From the book I've read, I realised that the only way things will change is when I think positive and initiate action to overcome any obstacles or challenges along the way. I can not sit around, twiddle my thumbs and wait for a miracle to happen. To be a great teacher, one must be a good learner. I've learned from my colleagues and my own students on how to improve my teaching methodology and make learning more meaningful for my students.

I also learn that it is not easy to initiate a change, to do something totally out of your comfort zone. When I started doing the action research for the first time, I was at first sceptical on its effectiveness. When I realised how the project I did had maximised my students' enthusiasm in learning by leaps and bounds, I was motivated. When I came across this blog, I was totally in awe of Kak Rahmah's dedication in teaching. Her positive attitude and optimism somewhat fueled me to emulate her fervour in teaching. She is my role model and I am glad that she is kind enough to share her knowledge with me. She triggered me to ride the unchartered waters and I dared myself to present paper at international conferences. I had inhibition of course (who would want to listen to me? / I'm not good enough) but I told myself, you got nothing to lose. The biggest demon is insecurities , to convince yourself that you need to perservere regardless of whatever criticism you might receive from others. Life is not all about perfection, it's all about progress.

It is inevitable to deny that it is a big responsibility to be a Guru Cemerlang/Master Teacher. People have expectations upon you, watching your every moves and wanting mind-blowing results and outcomes. Personally, I hope to learn more and improve on my teaching skills. I hope to network with more teachers and nurture my students' love for learning. I would also like to thank all of the followers & visitors of this humble blog. I have an ongoing mission : learn to teach with love :)

Biarpun perit pedih tersiksa
Kerana umat kau tempuhi jua

Contoh terbaik umat akhir zaman
Akhlakmu tinggi kan kami jejaki
Sifatmu sempurna pelengkap peribadi

Sinaran wajahmu mendamaikan jiwa
Manis senyumanmu penawar hiba
Dihati kami kaulah segalanya

Kami susuli lembaran sirahmu
Pahit getir perjuanganmu
Membawa cahaya kebenaran

Engkau taburkan pengorbananmu
Untuk umatmu yang tercinta
Biar terpaksa tempuh derita
Cekalnya hatimu menempuh ranjaunya

Tak terjangkau tinggi pekertimu
Tidak tergambar indahnya akhlakmu
Tidak terbalas segala jasamu
Sesungguhnya engkau rasul mulia
Tabahkan hatimu menempuh dugaan
Mengajar erti kesabaran
Menjulang panji kemenangan
Terukir namamu di dalam Al-Quran

Walau tak pernah melihat wajahmu
Kami cuba mengingatimu

(riwayat Tirmidzi)

wow this is sad.... gaduh in blog...

My daughter's convocation was jubilated by us, the family members. However there was an incident I now put behind me and enjoy life as if nothing was ruffled.

Then this kind BUT very slow reader came in and slapped an unsavoury remark, even after the sadness of a parent was subsiding and cooled to norm.

I call this reader, a slow sluggish unsavoury character.

Here is the chide:

I can't keep my feelings restrained after reading the writings from a, maybe, well educated father from, maybe, a highly civic minded society from the south. Now we can realise that sometimes the way our teenagers act and think may come from their parents as well. No wonder some of our students have the attitude of 'everything must be tiptop for them' right from the start they enter UiTM until they come for their convos. Its the attitude of some well to do parents who always wanted to be treated with 1st class service as if they are the King but yet still send their children to an institution where the primary objective is to transform not so rich children to become successful in life. How can his daughter have the endurance in life when the father could not even stand the endurance of attending a convo for just a few a hours? With all the fuss he made on UiTM with his writings in the blog, I just hope and pray that his daughter will become successful in life.

And here is the reply:

Thank you for your prayer Mr/Dr./Prof/Datuk/Puan/ Drs/Nenek/xxx Anonymous. You said it well. And the same prayer goes to your children and your progenies too for Allah will return favour. I am sure you too have children or even grandchildren, unless you are barren, thus you do not understand the feelings of parents vis-a-vis a convocation.
BTW, why be anonymous?
Is this a culture from the highly civic minded society from the central region of this Bolehland?
And your comprehension of English Language must have smelt vomit, for NOT ONCE did I mention about asking for a 1st class service.
If, being in the same hall as their graduating children is a first class service, then you are saying that, most universities in this Bolehland is first class, and UiTM is 2nd class!!!
Blasphemous!
You are condemning the university you are purportedly upholding!
My 2 cents worth is still valid. Your comprehension of English as a Language spews sewer!
And this is not an ANONYMOUS reply.
Read my lips.
Not an ANONYMOUS reply.

But Anonymous and the many more foul-English readers out there, yet to be seen, are hilarious. This could be the tip of the ice-berg Datuk. Be prepared. Pity our children who are taught by such lecturers [who are not from the south of the country as mentioned by Anonymous].

Mohd Nawi Derahman::> Sherry thank you. Thank you for being understanding. Most parents understood the context very well, unless they are BARREN and have no children, thus could not relate to a convocation very well (skewed personality).
Thanks Sherry.

Abdullah Mohd Nawi::> My comment on your blog Dad:

I really think our anonymous guest has misconstrued the meaning the blogposts and the frustrations of a parent who only wanted to be in the same room as his child during her once in a lifetime convocation for a first degree (future ones not including, and they would not be for the first degree).

If other major universities are able to let the parents be in the same hall as their children during this momentous event, wouldn't one expect the same courtesy from another major university?

Somehow, I don't think our anonymous guest appears to be able to differentiate between the fact that even through all the difficulties endured during the convocations (I'm very sure my father, colleagues, and myself included as we have been to quite a few, from varying universities), there wouldn't have been a peep about all this if it was made worthwhile. In this case, a parent being able to see his child, and a child being able to see her parents, during this very special occasion.

It might be a good idea to revisit the post, and actually try to understand what a person means, before beginning a tirade of thinly veiled insults that are hidden under the false guise of civility.

My father's comments are scathing, yes I do admit, but sir/madam, your thinly veiled insults are very personal in nature, and one does not attack a person for his views. One debates the views.

I would also like to add, sir/mdm, that a large number of our family is proud to be affiliated with UiTM (or ITM), and we are extremely proud of them.

Also, as members of the academic fraternity, we are proud of what UiTM is doing for the country, as we all benefit from it.

The only matter debated here, sir/mdm, is that a parent was not permitted the courtesy of seeing his child receive her scroll, and not asking for a first class, red carpet treatment.

I ask, was this such a crime that such provocative and very personal attacks be made?

I hate it when someone talks about setting the right attitude and example to our students when HE/SHE/IT slink behind a name like "Anonymous"! You must be one who was educated abroad and return home to be a Master Coward. What a waste of PUBLIC MONEY! And that is a great example you are showing to the students?

Ahh my remarks were scathing?
Yes.
And I don't mince words!

(Surah Al-Isra : 36).

Quran Surah Al: Isra : 62-65

Hundreds stranded in snow in Scotland

Britain, which last year shivered through its coldest winter in 30 years, has not seen such widespread early snowfall since 1993.

Motorists in Scotland were told to stay at home after hundreds of drivers were stranded overnight after snow and freezing temperatures brought more chaos to travellers in northern Britain.

Strathclyde, Lothian and Borders and Central Scotland police forces advised against travel on Tuesday as deep snow and icy conditions left main roads impassable.

"We are advising motorists again not to travel unless the journey is absolutely essential," said Chief Superintendent Allan Moffat.

"We are extremely keen to prevent the experiences over the last 24 hours where we have had many people stranded in their vehicles for lengthy periods."

He said the gritting measures did not work when temperatures fell below minus 10C.

Temperatures in Scotland dropped well below freezing overnight to as low as minus 18 Celsius (-0.4 Fahrenheit), and more heavy snow trapped many drivers in their vehicles while others abandoned their cars.

Scotland's Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson said the authorities had been dealing with what police had described as "unprecedented conditions."

"It's certainly not the case that we've managed to deal with the problem in a way which is acceptable and I very much regret that," he told BBC radio, adding his staff had done an "excellent job."

"I'm sorry that people have experienced the inconvenience."

Media reported that 150 pupils, parents and staff were forced to spend the night in a South Lanarkshire school after the conditions meant they were unable to get home.

The M876, M80 and M8 motorways were all badly affected and police said they had helped stranded drivers get hotel accommodation or receive hot drinks and food.

All the vehicles that were abandoned on the M876 have now been removed, police said, although much of the motorway along with parts of the M9 and M80 remained closed.

However, there was better news for air passengers as Glasgow and Edinburgh airports were both open on Tuesday morning.

Hundreds stranded in snow chaos

Hundreds of drivers stranded overnight in freezing temperatures are still battling to get home as police launched a huge operation to free up miles of gridlock.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20101207/tuk-hundreds-stranded-in-snow-chaos-6323e80.html

Some motorists were stuck in their vehicles for more than 15 hours as Scotland bore the brunt of a fresh wave of ice and snow which left several major routes impassable.

Police across the country's busy central belt warned people not to travel unless it was "absolutely essential" after temperatures plunged as low as minus 17C (1.4F) and hampered gritting efforts.

The deluge on Monday - which appeared to take the authorities by surprise - saw people sleep in their cars or abandon them on the highway as motorways and A roads clogged up. Around 100 children were also forced to sleep at their school after the bad weather prevented pupils, parents and staff from getting home.

North-east Scotland and north-west England are facing more snow, with widespread icy roads expected up and down the country thanks to the freezing conditions.

At least nine people have so far died in the big freeze, with an elderly man found dead in snow at a Lincolnshire caravan park the latest victim.

Temperatures plummeted to minus 13C (8.6F) in Edinburgh and minus 11C (12.2F) in Glasgow overnight, reaching minus 16.7C (1.9F) in parts of the Highlands. Parts of Yorkshire and South Wales also saw minus 14C (6.8F).

Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports were open after closing on Monday due to the weather conditions, but officials warned travellers to check with their airlines. Belfast International and London City Airports also warned of delays and cancellations due to fog and freezing weather.

On the railways, the East Coast line between London and Edinburgh was still running a reduced service, and some Northern Rail services in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire were cancelled.

Brendan Jones, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said temperatures were due to rise from Thursday through the weekend thanks to a shift in the wind direction: "At the moment, temperatures are struggling to get above freezing, but by Thursday most places are going to be above zero - 4C (39.2F) or 5C (41F) across large parts of the country. Many places will have a frost-free night."

Scottish drivers trapped in heavy snow

Hundreds of motorists in Scotland were stranded on Tuesday following a freezing night spent in their cars on the country's snowbound roads.

The country's busiest routes became impassable late Monday in bitterly cold conditions, forcing drivers and passengers in more than 500 vehicles to sleep in their cars.

Scotland's parliament held a crisis meeting as police battled to reach trapped motorists.

Stewart Stevenson, the Scottish transport minister, said the country was in the grip of the "worst snow and ice conditions since the 1960s."

Many parts of Britain have been hit by the country's earliest widespread snowfalls for 17 years.

Around 150 pupils, teachers and parents spent the night in a school in Hamilton, central Scotland, after the heavy snow made it too dangerous for them to make their way home.

Glasgow and Edinburgh airports reopened after a short shutdown because of the weather.

Britain, which last year shivered through its coldest winter in 30 years, has not seen such widespread early snowfall since 1993

Hundreds of motorists have been stranded overnight after snow and freezing temperatures brought more chaos to travellers in northern Britain.

Strathclyde, Lothian and Borders and Central Scotland police forces advised people not to travel on Tuesday unless their journeys were essential as deep snow and icy conditions have left roads treacherous.

"Due to the extremely cold temperatures experienced across the central belt (of Scotland) overnight, the gritting operation that has been carried out will not have had a significant impact on the ice that has built up on roads across the region," they said.

Temperatures in Scotland dropped well below freezing overnight, and more heavy snow trapped many drivers in their vehicles while others abandoned their cars.

Pupils, parents and staff were forced to spend the night in a South Lanarkshire school after the conditions meant they were unable to get home.

The M876, M80 and M8 motorways were all badly affected and police said they had helped stranded drivers get hotel accommodation or hot drinks and food.

However, Glasgow and Edinburgh airports have both reopened.

Britain, which last year shivered through its coldest winter in 30 years, has not seen such widespread early snowfall since 1993, closing thousands of schools and causing travel chaos up and down the country.

Fresh snow showers and sub-zero temperatures will continue to blight Britain as the icy weather that has gripped the country over the past week shows little sign of easing.

Around 15cm of snow is expected on higher grounds with strong 30mph north-easterly winds making the temperatures feel as low as -7C in parts of the UK.

Schools are expected to remain shut and transport routes blocked with forecasters warning that the onslaught of Arctic weather will not show signs of letting up until Friday.

Met Office forecaster David Price said: "It will remain bitterly cold today with the strong north-easterly winds continuing to bring snow showers and making temperatures feel as low as minus six or seven degrees. There will be fresh snowfall across the majority of the country, with the only areas really escaping being the Midlands, the far south west of England and the west and north-west of Scotland."

Mr Price predicted that an average of between 0.8in (2cm) and 2in (5cm) of snow will fall across the UK on Wednesday, with 4in (10cm) to 6in (15cm) falling in higher areas. Temperatures are also expected to struggle to get past 0C with maximums of just 2C.

Mr Price said the snowy conditions will continue throughout Thursday adding to the existing levels that have accumulated over the past week.

"On Friday we should an expect a reprieve from the showers. However, it will remain extremely cold and the snow will be back over the weekend," added the weather expert.

Gatwick Airport was also closed with all departures and arrivals halted until further notice due to the adverse weather conditions. Airport spokeswoman Sarah Baranowski said the runway was closed at 10.30pm on Tuesday and ground staff working throughout the night had not been able to clear the settling snow.

Severe weather warnings were on Wednesday in place for the whole of Scotland, with widespread icy roads and heavy snow expected in central and south westerly areas. Warnings were also in place for northern England, the south coast and parts of Wales as the UK braces itself for more Arctic temperatures.

Gemma Plumb, forecaster for MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said snow drifts were reported in East Anglia and Suffolk on Wednesday morning as a result of the strong winds. A low of -19.8C was also taken in Altnaharra, in the Highlands, with temperatures not expected to break 0C in Scotland.

Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions have caused major disruption across the country with a warning of more snow on the way.

Heavy snowfall and freezing conditions have caused major disruption across the country with a warning of more snow on the way.

Thousands of motorists were hit by one of the worst days on Britain's roads, flights were cancelled and hundreds of schools were forced to close.

Temperatures plummeted to as low as minus 11C and some parts of Scotland and the North East saw more than 16in (40cms) of snowfall.

Forecasters said many parts of England will wake up to a blanket of snow on Tuesday.

The AA said Monday was one of its busiest on record after it was called to more than 20,000 breakdowns. A spokesman said: "The fact we're only in the end of November and we've had what will turn out to be one of our top busiest days ever is pretty exceptional. No cars like these conditions and unless you do regular journeys of decent length in your car, it doesn't really give your battery much time to re-charge."

Edinburgh Airport was closed due to heavy snow on Monday morning and other airports also faced disruption with a number of flight cancellations and delays.

The vast majority of the railways were unaffected by snow and ice, said a Network Rail spokesman.

Many schools in Scotland, the North East and Cornwall were forced to close.

A spokeswoman for Lincolnshire Police said around 50 to 60 cars had become stranded due to snow drifts and ice close to Raithby, near Louth, during the afternoon.

Motorists using roads near the A153 and A16 in the region got stuck at the bottom of a hill and were unable to pass, causing lengthy tailbacks.

buku Rich Dad, Poor Dad tulisan Robert Kiyosaki. Dia mengatakan ianya sebuah buku yang perlu dibaca, ianya tentang pengurusan kewangan.

buku The Trust oleh Furakawa.

Alhamdulillah saya merasakan saya beruntung untuk membaca buku tersebut, sebagaimana saya gembira membaca buku The Turning Point dan The Uncommon Wisdomstulisan Frithjof Chapra; sebagaimana saya gembira membaca bukuHow To Succeed in Business Without Working so Damn Hard oleh Robert J.Krigel atau The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make A Big Difference oleh Malcom Gladwell.

"I didn't want to go back to schools only to feel stupid again. I didn't want to go to church and be told I was a sinner and had to die before I could begin to live. I didn't want to be an employee of a company, allowing the business to tell me how much I made, whom I worked with, who was my boss, and whether or not I would be promoted.
I wanted to regain my power, the power to have my life on my terms, to find heaven on earth.
In Sunday School I learned that Noah endured a rainstorm for 40 days and 40 nights. I also learned that Moses wandered the desert for 40 years before he was delivered to the Promised Land. In 1974, I was hoping to find heaven on earth in 40 days, but I was also willing to wander for 40 years".(pg 106)

"I've grown to appreciate people's faith in their chosen traditions, the effort they make to practice and study and to be good disciples. We have a long way to go in deepening tolerance and kindness for people of faiths other than our own. When we look down upon others or belittle them, it shows our intolerance and narrow perspective. This qoute from Dave Barry is sobering and sometimes true: "people who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them" (pg 117)

Robert membuat catitan tentang beratnya kesalahan berbohong:
"We all make mistakes" he continued. "We have all broken the rules. We all do stupid things and think we can get away with it. S0 making mistake and being stupid is not a crime. Being foolish is not a crime. Lying is" (pg 125)

Robert membuat pengamatan:
"As time went on, I begin to wonder why so many people pretended to be saints but were really sinners. If the rules for good life were so easy to follow, why did so many people not follow them?. Some specific examples that have disturbed me:
We all know we should not lie.
.....if this is such a simple lesson to live life by, why do so many people lie?
We all know we should not commit adultery.
.....yet, why do so many people cheat on their spouses?
We know we should not kill.
..Yet governments spend so much time, technology, and money in the pursuit of building weapons to kill people.
We all know that we should love thy neighbor
....Yet why do so many people gossip behind their neighbor's back, stabbing them in the back with words?. Why do so many people spend so much time, creativity, and effort on the Internet to smear someone else?" (pg 126-127)

"I also noticed that humans struggled a lot within themselves. It seemed as if many people went to churches to genuinely pray for a better life, yet a better life eluded many of them. For e.g:
*Many people want to be rich, yet millions of spiritually rich remain financially poor
*Millions would like to be thinner and healthier, yet millions pray to lose weight only to gain more weight
*Millions pray for more love and happiness with their spouse or partner, yet some of the most vicious fights are with those you love the most
*Millions of families go to churches to set a moral example for their kids, yet some of the kids from religious families turn out to be the worst kids of all. (pg 127-128)

"While we deeply immerse ourselves in prayer, practice, study, conduct, and dicipline, we must be authentic in our personal journey. In my walks on the path, subtle deception of erroneous views shut me down. My smiling outer form held a sad frown inside. But as long as seeking approval held the upper hand over speaking up, a part of me would be forced into mental exile. The result is that my work and life appeared worthy and good, but there was a subtle corruption in my practice, and it was hurting me. We sometimes live a long time, compromised and captive to our flavor of delusion. External structures of religion, discipline, and work ethics provide guidelines for us, meant to enhance our relationships and ability to live in harmony with others. These we take up, and choose to abide by to help reflect and direct our inner motivations and directions.
But we need vigilance to correct and direct ourselves when we go off course. The course may be valid, but our interpretations and conduct may be flawed. We need skillful teachers and kind spiritual friends. (pg 137)

Robert mencatit:
I gained a great deep appreciation for the precious gift called life. Instead in fear of dying. I do my best to live a fearless life. I believe that one of the reasons I do not succumb to the fear of job security, fear of failing, fear of criticism, and fear of not having enough money, is because to me those fears are fears not worthy of dictating how I live my life. Rather than live in fear, I choose to live life with excitement, gratitude, and giving back, in exchange for the gift known as life (pg261)

Pada bahagian lain, dia mencatitkan:
I connect with the Sunday School lesson, "God helps those who help themselves". In my life I have found that the more I help others- and my self- the more miracles I have in my life

Dan juga;
I began to realize that the more I tried to kill my enemies, the harder they fought to live.

Emi pula mencatitkan:

As important as our wealth, our friends, our family, even our doctors are to us during our lives, the only thing that can help us in our final ours is a peaceful mind. And from my observations, as well as personal experience, graceful dying comes from graceful living. Graceful living is defined as a spiritual and ethical life, resolving our inner conflicts with ourselves and our other conflicts with others. Living well is the secret to dying well. (pg269)

Dan juga:
As it's true- as I have learned from my own journey- that it takes a basic level of wealth to maintain health and happiness. but money alone does not bring happiness, no matter the quantity. The pursuit of happiness without an ethical foundation is certain to change into the pursuit of
unhappiness. Ethics and good will toward others compose the essential state of mind that will bring about happiness in this very life, and it is this state that is the real human treasure, the true wealth. We prepare for death by being mindful of how we live. (pg 271)

Agaknya menarik sekali cara Emi menyimpulkan persoalan menanti kematian:
Death will be a measure of how I lived and how I resolved the issues of my life- both internal and external. How empowering it is to know that we can shape our final moments by the way we shape our present ones. It's not that we should live our lives solely so that we may have peaceful deaths, but rather, know that if we desire a peaceful death, then we must live our lives accordingly.

Emi mencatitkan:
The strict , radical materialistic view believes that once we die, there is nothing left. According to that view, our mind is a chemical reaction contingent upon our body and stops when the body dies. But even from the materialist's view, you can see that phenomena continue on in changed forms. Just as water becomes ice and vapor, even our body components become dust and earth again; there is gross and subtle transformation of physical phenomena. (pg328)

While I do think it is possible in rare cases for someone's cancer to disappear perhaps with assistance of sincere prayers, I would not want to experiment with that on my self. Additionally , I don't think I would have a calm mind at all if I knew sickness was progressing and did not seek help (pg 309).

Emi menyatakan kesedarannya tentang kepentingan harta:
It took getting cancer to wake me up to the reality that money is useful, not just for nice things in life, but for the basics like health and wellness. It showed how my physical life constantly informed my emotional, mental and spiritual life. What I do not pay attention to is going to manifest one way or another. (pg235)

Robert pula menyatakan kehairanannya:
While I did want to be rich, I was really curious about this subject of money. I truly wanted to know why people were rich and so many were poor. I wanted to know why people like my dad claimed to be not interested in money, yet spent his life working for it and complaining that he never had enough of it. I wanted to know why churches spoke out against the love of money and then pleaded with their congregations to put more money in the offering plate (pg 230)

Spiritually, I did not want to worship or be a slave to money. That point was crystal clear because my parents had had friends who saved, saved and saved. They had tons of money, yet they lived frugally, below their means, claiming that money was the root of all evil. To me, this attitude was making money the god they worshiped- or fear. (pg160)

Robert menyatakan kefahamannya tentang keterbatasan matawang kertas:
Very few people know that the rules of the money changed in 1971. That year, President Nixon took the U.S dollar off the gold standard. The dollar replaced gold- which is money made by God - with man-made money, which is also known as fiat money, or money that is not based on physical commodity. in 1971, the dollar became a currency, and it was no longer money. The word currency comes from the word "current". A currency like a river current or an electrical current, needs to be moving. This is why parking your money in a bank or in a mutual fund reduces your wealth. Your wealth declines because your money is not moving. Sitting in an account, your money is moving for your banker, financial advisor , investment bankers, and mutual fund companies- but not for you. (pg 338)

We all know people who believe in God but do not trust in God. This may be why so many people will cling to boring jobs, low pay, bad people, dead marriages, or toxic environments. As I've said before, "people want to go to heaven, but they do not want to die".Many prefer to hang on to something familiar, rather than let go and let God take them to their next destination. There are many who believe in God, but do not trust in God (pg 216)

This generalized principle states that unity is not "one". Instead , "one" cannot exist. unity is at a minimum, two -meaning two or more. This principle is significant because the concept of only one God violates this generalized principle. This principle explains why there are arguments and wars. Whenever we think there is only one way, one answer, or one solution, the principle is violated and peace is disturbed. I remember as a kid in church, cringing every time I heard the preacher say, "There is only one God and only one way to God, and that way is through our church and our religion". Even as a kid I knew that statements like this were fighting words, As a kid, I wondered why there couldn't be more than one way to God. When a religion claims to follow the one and only true God, that religion is cruising for a fight. Or if they propose there is only one path to God, they again inviting a challenge- a fight. Today, we are still at war over who is following the one and only God. When I visited Jerusalem, the Holy City, Christians were in conflict with other Christians. They do not need Muslims or Jews to have a fight. Taking this principle further, man could not exist if woman did not exist. We would not up without down, in without out, black without black, fast without slow, positive without negative, right without wrong, or heaven without hell. In politics, we will always have, at minimum, two party system. We will always have liberals as long as there are conservatives. When dreamers wish for one-world government, I know they don't understand this generalized principle. (pg220)

Robert sendiri menulis: "While most fights are best avoided, there are some worth fighting" (pg292)

1-Menerima kritikan:
"Sucessful people are criticized. Unsuccessful people are not". (pg221)

2-Perspektif tentang orang tua:
"During hunter-gatherer times and through the Agrarian and industrial Age, we learned to respect our elders because they held a lifetime of experience. For thousands of years, age was respected, age was an assst. age meant wisdom . today being old is a liability, a sign of obsolescence. People of my generation say: :fifty is now the new forty". It can also be said that mentally and professionally, "thirty-five is the new sixty-five" (pg227)

3-Memanafaatkan Duit:
"Giving money can be a full-time job. Just as making money and investing money creates unique challenges, giving money back comes with its own set of challenges. There are an art and science to charitable giving.(pg 247)

4. Hubungan bermasaalah dgn yang lain:
"If you have a bad relationship, it's tough to make the space for good relationship. Sometimes you have to let go, even if you love the person, so you both can move on" (pg298)
"The couples remain together in their loneliness. It seems as if their marriage is simply two bodies living together, waiting "till death do they part". (pg289)

5. Niat mengepalai perbuatan:
"Sometimes our actions may appear good to others, but in fact the motivation is self-serving and may be filled with negative intent to deceive or harm others. At other times, our cation may appear harmful but in fact have the intent and result of benefiting others, as when a parent or mentor is disciplining us. And sometimes even when our intentions are good, we don't get the desired effect" (pg315).

"We gravitate toward and attract people who are likeminded, and it compound the situation, for not only do we feel right about we do, our circle of associations justify it and encourage our behaviour. Those mental attitudes become our worldview. Our actions, posotive and negative, continually influence us" (pg 319)

7.Kesilapan kita di dalam kehidupan:
"In the real world, the smartest people are people who make mistakes and learn from their mistakes. In school, the smartest people are those who do not make mistakes. My poor dad- a smart man and great teacher- lost everything when he left the school system. Although a smart man academically, he wasn't prepared for real world, a world that does not care what your grade point average is. He did not know how to make mistakes and grow richer. (pg346)

8. Keraguan terhadap mereka yang berpenonjolan agama:
"Whenever a person leads with their faith, I become very suspicious. When I hear those words, I know the changes for losing money or winding up in a bad relationship are pretty good. Just because someone is a good Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, or whatever faith does not mean they are honest, thrustworthy, or competent in business" (pg 347)

9-Berkata Benar Walaupun Sukar:
"We are our words. in the ideal world, we all know we should tell the truth, keep our word, and not make promises we cannot keep. In real world, lying often takes less courage than telling the truth face to face.It is easy not to keep our words, and it is easy not to keep our agreements. All these events detact from our spiritual financial power" (pg349)

10-Memberi untuk Menerima:
*Work for free. The more I work for free, the more money I make, The more you need anything, like love or money, the less you will have.
*The more I give, the more I receive, but not instantly
*Truth is harder than lying, but the more I move toward truth, the less I have to lie.
*Our soul has a price. For many people, that price is too low.
*The more I teach, the more I learn
*If I want higher-quality spiritual friends and family, I need to increase my own spirituality.
(pg 302)

http://muqabalah2009.blogspot.com/2010/05/telahan-unta-kafilah-apa-tidakan-kita.html
