1a-c, 2a-c, 3a-c for KS1

The SATS (which are the 1a-c, 2a-c, 3a-c etc are different to the tree) are even more confusing!!:

Levels at KS1 (level 2 is average for a child in year 2 by the APRIL of the academic yr)

Level 1: Below average: working towards level 2
Level 2c: Just about level 2
Level 2b: A solid level 2
Level 2a: Good skills
Level 3: Excellent - likely to reach level 5 at KS2
Level 4: Amazingly able (and extremely rare)

The majority of pupils are expected to work at:
levels 1-3 in key stage 1 and attain level 2 at the end of the key stage
levels 2-5 in key stage 2 and attain level 4 at the end of the key stage
levels 3-7 in key stage 3 and attain level 5/6 at the end of the key stage.
