Kenapa Biasiswa JPA dihentikan untuk Pelajar Lepasan SPM

http://www.ar-rifke.com/2011/06/biasiswa-pra-u-dihentikacn-tiada-lagi-biasiswa-jpa-untuk-pelajar-lepasan-spm.html

Ya, itulah satu lagi kenyataan pahit dari PM apabila menyatakan mulai tahun depan pelajar cemerlang Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) tidak lagi diberikan biasiswa Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) untuk melanjutkan pengajian peringkat prauniversiti, termasuk Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), program asasi dan matrikulasi serta A-Level.

1. Kerajaan mendapati pemberian biasiswa pada peringkat SPM bukan idea yang sesuai kerana ia setaraf O-Level.

Singapore do this from the 70s' .Why Malaysia only want to do it now... Cannot understand Malaysia is alway 30-40 years behind.

Singapore's prestigious state scholarships like President, SAF, PSC...etc Scholarships only for top A-level students

Better late then never

Sam, looking at the QUOTA, who do you think are the applicants ? We can't base our decision on too many criterias. Top criteria is, you must be the best - whether your parents are rich - or poor.
The country needs the BEST - whether the student is a son of a multi-millionaire or a poor farmer.
Next, it's up to the RICH parents - whether they want to deny a place for the poor top student. Remember, the rich pays taxes too .... lots of taxes.... and this is within their right.

Fair enough.
SPM scorers are too easy. Sponsoring university undergraduate is a better decision.

Also, most of the scholarships should be for local universities. And only a very select few for overseas. Maybe, a study should be done how many government scholarship students returned home after studying overseas.

Mr.Najib by doing this you are depriving the malay students to pursue their studies..................because not many of them are keen to sit for STPM and the end results are also bad. This gives a better edge for indian and chinese who have better results in STPM.Do you think Perkasa will let you of the hook.

.....

Actually the government should not give out scholarship at all. Passing A level is also
no guarantee students would do well in their degree course. All the top scorers in A
level should be granted study loan to further their studies with parents as their guarantors.
If they pass with certain grades to be determined by the government, such loans shall be
converted full scholarship, otherwise the student have to pay for the loan. If they don't come back to serve, then their parents shall have to pay for the loan. This way we can be sure we only give scholarships to the really deserving students.

nice nice nice

During my time, there was only one student who scored 9A1 in SPM exam in the whole country. This was more than 25 years ago.

I doubt the SPM exam level of difficulty had gone down, but the grading scheme might have been lowered down.
