the role of play in child development is huge, children learn though play and each toy or object or friend or experience in play helps another developmental stage for example role play or fantasy play provides imitation skills, social skills, imagination skills all this helps them learn and grow. sandpit play provides maths and science concepts eg measuring with the buckets, counting the sand castles, and heaps more. social play provides interaction, cause and effect, engages in conversation skills
